Story published in the South Wales Evening Post on Monday 14th June, 2010.

A CITY photographer is in the frame as the man behind the new Ospreys billboard campaign.

Adam Davies’s powerful image of Ospreys star and Wales international James Hook and aspiring young rugby player Iwan Beggs can be seen at locations across Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend. The campaign, ahead of the 2010/11 season, calls on fans in the region to come together to make the club stronger.

Swansea-based photographer Adam Davies, said: “As the Ospreys official photographer, I was pleased to be able to provide a compelling image for the regional side. Professional: “Working with James Hook was easy as he’s such a professional on and off the field. But we had to work quickly because of his busy schedule. I used a simple studio lighting set up to get the desired effect.”

As well as working with the Ospreys, Adam, whose studio business Adam Davies Photography is based in Sketty, also does a lot of commercial work as well as weddings, lifestyle portraits and public relations photography. As a former Evening Post photographer he has over 18 years of experience.

Adam was named the 2009 Master Photographers Association (MPA) Welsh Fashion & Beauty and Sports photographer of the year. His work has also featured in all major national newspapers and National Geographic publications.

The unveiling of the billboards comes as the Ospreys launch their season ticket package for 2010/11. The image is accompanied by the words “Together We Are Stronger” which aims to remind fans that their support is crucial in the success and development of both the Ospreys and rugby itself in the region.

Roger Blyth, managing director at the Ospreys, said: “Adam’s work is always top notch, he’s produced some great pictures for the Ospreys in the past , and the billboard pictures are just another example of outstanding work from one of South Wales’s most respected photographers.

Everyone at the Ospreys is delighted with the billboards, they capture the sprit of Ospreylia and hopefully they will spur on our fans to come along and support the club next season.”
